Shai's Story...
Shai (Hebrew for "gift") and her brother Spencer were found wandering on a golf course, starving for food AND love. ~~ Shai is a gentle, sweet, loving spirit whose life goal is to lie on the sofa with a body part -- her head, paw, leg, tail - ON her person, as if to reassure herself that you are real and won't leave her. Occasionally, she will lean her head back and communicate with those amber/green eyes. Shai has asked to please go home with a human who will be with her most of the time, since she has justifiable concerns about separation. ~~ She is a gentle soul who simply wants to get along with other dogs. She would do well as an only dog, or live happily with other dogs who will be kind to her. ~~ Spayed, vaccinated, tested Negative for Heartworm and Erlichia. Working on leash training and house training. ~~ Shai is 10 months. Approx Birthday Nov. 2007 ~~ Adoption Fee: $150

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shai, a Santa Fe Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Santa Fe, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Santa Fe.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Santa Fe already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Santa Fe breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Santa Fe paves the way for another one to be saved.
