This dog is enrolled in the PAWS FOR CAUSE program at the US Federal Penitentiary in Lee County, VA. This program pairs rescued dogs with handlers selected from the prison ' s "camp" which is a very low security part of the facility. Dogs are taught basic obedience commands on leash. They also run them through agility courses. They work on housebreaking too. The dogs are also socialized with the other dogs as well as being around staff and all the handlers. Preference is given to veterans to adopt these dogs but anyone can apply. We make every effort to fit the dog to the right person or family.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Midnight, a Coeburn Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Coeburn, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Coeburn.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Coeburn already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Coeburn breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Coeburn paves the way for another one to be saved.
