Captain (Cappy) is an 11 yr old male German Shepard mix. He is so fuzzy and cute; we think he is part teddy bear. He is a calm, cuddly senior boy who is looking for a special person with a big heart and love for old dogs to care for him in his golden years. Sadly, Captain's disabled human had to go to a nursing facility. He lives to fetch his ball because his owner (who was in a wheelchair) used to throw the ball to him all the time and he would bring it back every time! Captain is mostly deaf and walks with a limp from arthritis...but still has a love for life. He gets all wiggly when its time to go for a ride, but needs some assistance getting in an out of the car. He enjoys slow, short walks and is friendly to everyone he meets. Captain is good with children and gets along with other cats and dogs in the home..so he could fit right in with any family. Please consider opening your heart and home to this beautiful old dog who shouldn't be homeless at this time in his life. He has been to the vet and is up to date on shots.

Potential adopters must agree to home visit and sign an adoption contract to ensure he goes to safe and loving home. Call 216-316-2409 to meet sweet old Cappy.

About Foster Parents for Pooches

About Our Rescue Group...

Foster Parents For Pooches is a 501(c)3 non-profit dog rescue group established in 1994. We are a small network of volunteers that rescue and rehabilitate homeless dogs from the streets of Cleveland, Ohio. We also save dogs from local shelters and take them into our foster homes, oftentimes within hours of being euthanized. In recent years we’ve been rescuing cats/kittens too. We take care of all medical needs, provide training as needed, and find them loving families. We also work with people who give up their pets, for whatever reason, by giving appropriate advice on placement and listing their pet on our website.

Come visit our adoptable animals by appointment! You can meet our animals in a comfortable home environment.

Our Adoption Process...

Please note: You must be at least 28 years old to adopt a dog from us - unless you are able to demonstrate a mature lifestyle. We are not able to adopt to renters, sorry!

Adoption fees typically range from $100-$200 and are used to pay for spay/neuter, vaccinations, flea & heart worm medicine, vet expenses and supplies for our rescues.

The prospective owner must agree to a screening process that includes an application, phone interview, pre/post adoption home visits and the signing of an adoption contract. Our goal is to find the best match for our dogs and their new families, so that everyone lives happily ever after.

We prefer homes who want to go to an obedience class. Training strengthens the bond and trust that you have with your dog, and it's fun, for both of you! Dogs like to think and to be mentally challenged. Contrary to what many people think, they don't want to be couch potatoes. The training you do together will be an investment in the future.

For more information please email. We will respond within 12-24 hours. Please be patient, we all have full time jobs and are busy with other rescue matters.

Thank you!
