My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NOTE: This is a courtesy posting for another rescuer. Please do not contact ARRF, as we do not know this pet personally. To meet Happy, come to the County of San Diego Department of Animal Services, 2481 Palomar Airport Road, Carlsbad 92011.

Happy is a brindle-colored Shepherd mix who is 2 years old and weighs 64 lbs. He definitely lives up to his name – check out that smile! He is a happy boy and really enjoys life. He likes to cuddle and to have his belly rubbed. He is really quite mellow for a young buck his age.

Happy is currently living in a shelter, but he appears to be housetrained. He is up to date with shots and will be microchipped before going to his forever home.

Because of an old injury, one of Happy’s front legs is significantly shorter than the other, but that does not stop him from running and chasing balls He loves that game! Walking is fine, too, and he has very good energy. He knows the command to sit and is eager to learn more. He is very receptive to humans.

Happy seems to have a high prey drive, so he should not be adopted into a home with cats or small dogs or other small animals. He is fine with like or larger-sized dogs. He would do well in a household where he is an only dog, especially since he enjoys people so much, but also seems to enjoy the company of larger dogs.

To meet this happy-to-lucky fellow, come to the County of San Diego Department of Animal Services, 2481 Palomar Airport Road, Carlsbad 92011. Open Tuesdays - Saturdays, 9:30 am - 5:30 pm. Closed Sundays, Mondays and holidays. SPECIAL NOTE: The shelters are now open on Sundays from 9:30 am - 5:30 pm on a trial basis from October 23, 2016 through January 22, 2017.
