And now a few words from me:

Hi, my name is Gizmo. Remember Napoleon Bonaparte, the little guy who was the ruler of France during the French Revolution?  I am told that I resemble him and have a lot of his traits.  He was a military leader who led successful campaigns in war.  He was an emperor who dominated much of Europe during his time due to his determination and smarts and changed the course of history.

Being a Shih tzu I am also a little guy or should I say ‘of small statue’ and like Napoleon I like to rule. Maybe not Europe but for sure my home. I can be strong minded and determined and can lead the charge.

And now a few words from my foster family:

Gizmo, aka Napoleon, is the most adorable Shih tzu but he is often misunderstood.  He may come across as sure of himself  but underneath he is fearful and has some anxiety.  Gizmo needs strong leadership and direction from his owner so it would be ideal for any applicant to have experience handling determined little dogs.   Gizmo likes to control situations but that is for his owner to do.

He is a serious little guy that has been rejected because of his previous skin issues. He is learning that he is loved and wanted in his foster home. He is an exceptionally bright little dog that needs stimulation.  Gizmo loves walking on leash and car rides. He is a dog that knows his basic commands,. He has been bounced around and he needs time to observe and know he is in his forever home before he submits 100%.

He has come out of his shell and now greets us at the door with tail wags and kisses. On occasion he develops that attitude of  a teenager - “why should I listen to you, because you are going to give me away an ways”

His joy is leading the show but if he knows you are in charge he submits. He needs a strong leader to let him know he does not need to lead Europe, that this was accomplished last century by Napoleon.

Obedience training will need to continue to help Gizmo gain confidence, give direction and give advice to his owners. Gizmo is such a great companion who just needs a new family that can work with his determination until he realizes he will not be rejected anymore and he is in his forever home.

In order to adopt from us, you need to complete an adoption application. Follow this link

Once the application is completed, it will be reviewed for suitability, and if yes, we will book a telephone interview with you, and check the veterinary and personal references that you provided. If that goes well, a home visit will be booked, and if your home is safe, the adoption can proceed. You will be required to execute and adoption contract and pay a set adoption fee
