From the Foster:

During the short time we've had Tonka, he's been a BIG love bug!!  He's not had the greatest life, but it certainly hasn't got him down!! He thinks he's a lap dog and loves to give hugs and get belly rubs.  He's a gentle giant!!

He is currently living with 3 other resident dogs, 2 female and 1 male.   He would do best with other non dominant dogs.  He doesn't get along with our male, but Tonka is not neutered yet, he goes in on  Sept 7th .  He plays with our submissive females and they get along fine.  Tonka can be overbearing with them right now, again this may be because he's not neutered.  I would think he would be best in a home with a submissive female companion.

Tonka would do best in a house without cats.  He does try to chase them and is very interested in them and very hard to redirect his attention.

We free feed our bunch, and he has had no food aggression. He also takes treats very gently.

He is crate trained and once in his crate, he wines a little, but settles down quickly and takes a nap :), with no barking.

He knows how to sit on command  and is working on walking on a leash, he does like to pull when he's on a mission to see something, but if there is nothing grabbing his attention, he will walk casually by your side

We are working on keeping him on a potty schedule with our dogs to avoid any accidents.  Right now he is not asking to go out.

This dude is built like a Tonka truck ;) ! He is a big beef cake that is looking to be loved for the rest of his life!!  You will not be disappointed, this guy will give you lots of affection to show you how much he appreciates you rescuing him!!

All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.

If you live in MN, WI, IA, SD, ND, or IL and would like to meet/adopt this animal or anyone else, then please fill out an adoption application at   http://secondhandhounds.org/adoption-information/  and the foster(s) will be in touch!  Keep in mind that there may be multiple applicants applying for the same animal(s).   You only need to complete 1 application for multiple animals that you're interested in.

Note  - We change an animal's listing to say "PENDING ADOPTION" when they already had a meet and greet with a family who plans to adopt   that animal.  We put "NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS" on a listing when an animal has multiple applications in and the foster has asked to stop accepting any more while they review the applications they've already received.
