Oscar was rescued by/from River Rouge Animal Shelter.  He is an orange/white DSH tabby cat, approx 6 years old.  Front declawed (when rescued), neutered, combo tested negative, and has his vaccinations. He is litter box trained. Oscar is a bit shy at first but is super sweet & affectionate once he learns to trust his person.  He prefers to go at his own pace.  His favorite things include gazing out an open window with a fresh breeze coming in, playing with a toy on a string and just being by his person.

Oscar will be a great companion cat.  He is ok with dogs & cats, as long as they give him his space, but he would probably prefer being an "only child". Due to Oscar's history of not eating when he was stressed/depressed at the shelter, Oscar will need an adopter that will be understanding of his need to do things at his own pace and will be willing to watch carefully to ensure he is eating on a regular basis.  His adopter should be educated on the dangers of a cat not eating for even a couple of days and the danger if developing fatty liver disease which is potentially fatal if not diagnosed and treated within weeks or even days.

Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to  Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $69.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.  Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process requires a completed Adoption Application, vet check, and home visit prior to adoption. If an adoption occurs there is an Adoption Contract the adopter will need to sign. We do not adopt our animals out on a first-come-first-served basis or do on-site adoptions. We strive to place our animals in an adoptive home that will best meet the animal's needs.
