Imagine yourself a part of a loving family with dogs, kids and plenty of room to run.  Then imagine your family decides to go back to Arkansas and takes the other dogs, but leaves you behind at the house they no longer live in.  You wait, and wait and are confused where your family is.  Kind people feed you but you wait and wait.  At last the postman decides to call the shelter to advise them of your situation.  You are so happy to see people again you come running to greet them.  This is what happened to Joshua, a nice young man who now needs a home that will commit to him forever.  Joshua is now available for adoption.    Please fill out his adoption form and we will contact you!

If you have a lot of love to share with a best friend please adopt one of our wonderful pets. All pets are up to date on shots, have been dewormed, and vaccinated for bordetella.  We are very rescue-friendly and have transport assistance to the northeast!

About Menifee County Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

The Menifee County Animal Shelter located in Frenchburg, KY is a non-profit volunteer group that operates the county shelter. Before we started handling the shelter, almost all of the animals were killed on-site and buried. A small group of volunteers felt compelled to change this so we began to manage the shelter. We rescue unwanted, neglected and abused cats and dogs that would otherwise be euthanized or left homeless. Our mission is to rescue and dramatically enhance the lives of these animals through community education and by providing high qualify foster care and medical attention, including spay and neuter care, for those animals in need. Working with the community, we strive to change the lives of these animals by matching each pet to the best possible home based on their individual needs and personality. We are very limited in the number of acceptable pplacements in our area due to the large value of animals we serve at any one time - we usually have 70-90 animals and only 9 kennel runs so it is essential for us to work quickly with rescues out of state to avoid having to euthanize our animals.. In the past year we saved over 1200 animals. PA-based rescues, we are PA licensed.
