Duncan's Story...

My name is Duncan, and I am one adorable kitty! I love to talk, and hope to find a family interested in hearing all the important things I have to say. I was adopted on a trial basis in October, but sadly was brought back to Florida Wild on March 22nd. The very sweet lady who took me home has an older (cranky) kitty who stopped eating because she didn't like me ~ my foster mom was heartbroken about not being able to keep me, and tried everything she could think of to get her other kitty to calm down enough to keep me at my wonderful new home.

I did not have any behavioral problems in her home, and am hoping to find another family very soon. When at FloridaWild, I was often allowed to roam around the hospital, and was always on my best behavior. I am afraid of hyper dogs who bark a lot, but if your home has a calm, quiet dog, I would do well with you. I'm also accustomed to being around other kitties at FloridaWild, and have never shown any aggression towards them.

I'm almost one year old, neutered, vaccinated, parasite-free and micro-chipped. Please come visit me at Petco's Adoption Center in Orange City, at 921 Harley Strickland Boulevard, so I can once again be part of a real family!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Duncan, a DeLand Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in DeLand, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in DeLand.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in DeLand already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a DeLand breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in DeLand paves the way for another one to be saved.
