Oreo's Story...
My name is Oreo, and I am a beautiful 16-year-old Maine Coon. The staff does not know if I'm a mix or a pure-bred. I was surrendered to FloridaWild at the end of September. I was with my family for all 11 years of my life ~ my elderly owner tripped over me, and subsequently decided she no longer wanted me. I'm very affectionate, and love to be petted, held and brushed. I was an only cat, but am now being fostered in a home with dogs and cats, and am doing pretty well (though I do sometimes feel a little overwhelmed at being with so many other animals).

I have also been indoor-only my entire life. I have a condition called megacolon, and will require a family that can feed me wet food only, and give me medication to control the condition and prevent me from becoming impacted again. My adoption fee is $100, and I can also be micro-chipped prior to adoption for a reduced fee of $20 and free registration; the cost for this minor procedure is usually $35. If you are interested in meeting me, or would like more information on making me the newest member of your family, please call FloridaWild at 386-734-9899.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Oreo, a DeLand Maine Coon cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maine Coon for sale in DeLand, or seeking a Maine Coon cat from a breeder in DeLand.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in DeLand already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a DeLand breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maine Coon breeders who help with Maine Coon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in DeLand paves the way for another one to be saved.
