UPDATE: Here is what her walking buddies say of Ruby: She needs slow introductions. She loves her treats, walks, sniffing and belly rubs. She's very easy to walk and also enjoys just laying in the grass and taking in her surroundings. She will make a great, easy companion dog.
Ruby is a senior spayed female Australian Cattle Dog, that was surrendered to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter after her principal owner died. Ruby had lived in the same home for 8 years! Ruby is 10 years old, housebroken, and knows the commands “sit” and “stay”. She walks nicely on a leash and is easy to take in and out of the kennel. Although Ruby is unhappy at the shelter, she warms up to people quickly.
For her shelter evaluation, she allowed all handling and petting without issue, and showed no signs of resource guarding. However, Ruby will need to be the only dog. If interested in adopting this sweet dog, please call the shelter at (516) 785-5220 or e-mail email@example.com. Ruby’s pet ID is 31343639. The shelter is located at 3320 Beltagh Ave. Wantagh, NY 11793. Please don’t let Ruby spend her golden years in the shelter.
