Miss Nora is a pretty girl with a heart-shaped face. She is a robust girl whose initial reaction, when approached by people, is to run and hide. This is not surprising given that, when Miss Nora and her sister Nila were rescued as kittens about four years ago, they had not been handled by people and were very afraid of humans.

They were placed in a foster home for a short time and Miss Nora was, by nature, the friendlier one of the two. Over the past 31/2 years Miss Nora has become more socialized to people and less fearful. Unfortunately, Miss Nora's automatic reflex when people walk toward her is to flee, as is the case with most timid cats. We are we are instinctively perceived by them as being 'predators' who will cause them harm. Interestingly, when humans are lying down and appear to be less intimidating, these same kitties will be more likely to get close and allow themselves to be caressed and petted. This is exactly the situation with Miss Nora. At night she will come into the bed and lie right next to you and become a 'love bug'. She is so warm and affectionate that it is difficult to believe she is the same cat who ran away from you during the day. Once Miss Nora joins you in bed, she shows you her inner sweetness and the love & affection she is afraid to let out at other times. She will snuggle against your body and not move all night long, purring whenever you caress her incredibly soft, smooth fur. She is so relaxed and content to be petted that she will happily shift herself so you can give her more tummy massages! If you want to sleep well then Miss Nora is more soothing than lullabies or wine! Despite her timidity, she is calm and quiet with a very gentle and sweet disposition. She also gets along with other cats. Miss Nora has come such a long way, there is no doubt that when she is in her 'forever home' she will continue to flower as the affectionate and loving cat she already has become. Will you be the lucky person to adopt this beautiful being?

  • Our Adoption Process...

All new adoption homes are carefully screened to determine if they are suitable. There is an adoption fee that includes the sterilization, initial vaccination of every animal, testing for FIV and FeLV of all cats at the shelter, and a 21 days trial period. A contract is always signed between the ARN and the adopter for their protection. A follow-up by an ARN adoption coordinator is often done either by telephone or by visit, and we also offer help/cousel for the life of the cat.
