Garth's Story...
Oh I’ve got friends in low places,
Where the kibble drowns,
and the rawhide chases,
My blues away, but I’ll be okay! (if you save me that is!)
Man, that Garth Brooks fellow is deep! I hope that’s who I’m named after! He might be a little more outgoing than me… I’m a little shy right now… But honestly I warm up quick… I’d say it takes me about 1-2 mins. before I’ve crawled in your lap … I’m pretty goofy, extremely friendly, and I have funny hair from a flea allergy… I must be named after ‘ol Garth! Anyway, my fleas are gone, my hair is growing back and I’m ready to move on. I’m really looking forward to meeting you! And your kids too! Let’s say kids over 8 would be best for now… Only because I’m a bit nervous… I’m a young handsome man who loves other dogs and needs a family to trust. Can you help? Golden Retriever/Alaskan Malamute/Australian Shepherd mix-2 years old-60lbs. My adoption fee is $160 and includes; neuter, microchip, free veterinary exam (portland/milwaukie area), 1 month pet health insurance, 5 week training class, leash/collar, toy & treat packet, food sample.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Garth, a Portland Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in Portland, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
