York's Story...
Hi my name is York! I am a 4 year old Dachshund who weighs about 11 lbs. I came from a not-so-nice lady who used me for breeding only. When I came to Orphan Annie Rescue, they noticed my mouth was really hurting me. They took me to the vet who said my teeth were in really bad shape, and my jaw was fractured. The doctor removed 13 teeth. Despite this, I am the sweetest boy. I would love to be your lap dog, and I am so snuggly. I can't wait to find a forever home where I can be somebody's baby! Because I was never someone's pet before, I am just learning what being on a leash is all about. It's very new to me, and it's kind of scary! Because of this, my volunteer friends think I would do best in a home with a fenced yard.

If you're interested in adopting me, please submit an application online at

My adoption fee is $300 and includes my neuter, shots, dental cleaning, microchipping, and heartworm testing.

I am available for adoption in the Atlanta area only.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

York, a Atlanta Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Atlanta, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Atlanta.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Atlanta already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Atlanta breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Atlanta paves the way for another one to be saved.
