Facts about Rio
Breed: Domestic Shorthair
I am already neutered.
RIO is quite a character of a cat, from his freckled nose to his long skinny tail. He is approximately 5 years old. He is very handsome with big golden eyes, pale orange fur, and long limbs, but he has extremely sensitive skin -- so he needs grain-free food and his new home will need to keep his flea-control up-to-date each month. Rio has a comical but dominant personality and loves to play, but he prefers to be the boss. He has not been a lap-sitting cat in his foster home, but he loves to be around his people and watch all their doings. He likes to be up high, so he would love a cat-size watchtower to observe his domain. He gets along with other cats if they are playful and accept his bossiness. He gets along well with dogs who know to play with him or stay out of his way. He would probably be fine with older children who could play string and feather with him or roll his jingly ball. Rio is an active boy who needs an active home with lots of play possibilities. Rio is part of our Bring Joy to Your World Adoption Promotion with Best Friends Animal Society and her adoption fee is just $25 for the month of December. He has been tested for feline leukemia and FIV (he is negative), neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, defleaed and dewormed—plus you get a free vet visit. Rio is at WAGS Dog Emporium, 485 Coburg Rd (in the same shopping center with Baja Fresh and Verizon). WAGS is open Mon-Sun from 9 to 7. For more information call Beth at (541) 255-9296
Our mission is to provide care and find loving homes for companion animals of our community, with a focus on those with special needs. Currently we only work with Cats. We offer temporary housing in foster homes until they can be placed through our adoption process. We have adoption centers within both Petsmarts in Eugene, at Chad Drive, near Costco, and 29th and Willamette; PetCo by Valley River Center and Wags Emporium on Coburg Rd. WCDC works with humane societies, other animal rescue groups, the public and government animal services agencies to offer them relief from their overpopulation problem. All cats in our custody receive the medical care they need. WCDC is a non-profit organization. All money raised is used to help WCDC save as many animal lives as possible.
Come Meet Our Pets...
Our cats can be seen at Petsmart on Chad Drive and on Willamette St, at Petco near Valley River Center and Wags Emporium on Coburg Rd, seven days a week during normal business hours. We do have adoption counselors available on weekends or by appointment or from 11-4pm Sat.-Sun.
Our Adoption Process...
All potential adopters are required to complete our application and contract. Our contract stipulates the requirements for care of our pets. These documents are available through e-mail or at our adoption events. The documents are reviewed by our staff and together with a face to face interview we explore the potential new home. If all parties agree to the specifics of the contract the dog or cat can go home. Adoption fee varies with age of pet. All pets are current on vaccinations, health checked by our veterinarian, De-wormed, treated with flea medication, spayed or neutered, and cats are felv/fiv tested.
