My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet our gentle giant Jack. Jack is on hold right now because he needs to lose some weight. We took him to the vet and found out he weighed – believe it or not – 111 pounds! He’s one heavy boy! The vet recommended he lose 30+ pounds, so he will be fostered for a little while so he can get in shape. Once he loses some weight he can get his teeth cleaned, and then he will be available for adoption.

Jack is a delightful dog. He loves everyone he meets. He loves everydoggy he meets too! He walks over 2 miles each day, and has to say hello to everyone! He adores being ruffled around his neck, and came to us with a box of toys that included a frisbee, so we guess that maybe he’ll want to play frisbee when he’s a little lighter. Right now he just goes for walks and gives kisses to his foster mom.

One to thing to note – Jack is a very vocal dog. He likes to bark – no – scratch that – he loves to bark. He barks more than his foster fur-brother who’s a Sheltie. Keep that in mind if you are interested in Jack. He knows commands well – so if he gets to barking in the back yard, he will come in when called.

Jack seems to like children and other dogs. He’s big, so you have to watch him so he doesn’t spill anything on the coffee table, or tip over a little kid. Jackie is just a lovely dog!

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our  Adoption Policies  and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online  Adoption Application . From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email.  You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
