Watson was rescued from a high kill shelter in Memphis. He was on his last 15 minutes of life, where he was going to be killed. He was picked dup by animal control as a stray- emaciated, barely any life or hope left, and barely any hair on his body. The great people at Central Animal Hospital fixed him up and he made his way to Pittsburgh. He is still on the mend, but is doing wonderful! He loves to play with other dogs, and chase the resident Pot Bellied pig around! He loves his toys, romping in the yard, and he may be a Pit Bull, but he is a lap dog! He also sleeps in the bed with his foster mom! Watson is still working on house training, but almost has it down. He is about 8-10 months of age. Check out the before pics of Watson on our Facebook page. If you would like to meet Watson, please GO TO OUR WEBSITE TO FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION. www.furkidrescue.org
Furkid Rescue is a small, private home-based rescue located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We officially started our organized rescue efforts in the spring of 2008, but have been rescuing and working with other rescue groups and local shelters for over 5 years. We take in mainly Pit Bull puppies who have been rescued from gas kill pounds, animal control facilities, backyard breeders, or people who are no longer able to keep their pets. We rarely take in owner’s surrenders unless we find that the owner has a valid reason for abandoning the pet. Furkid Rescue will also save other breeds when there is room in one of our breed-experienced foster homes. You may see mastiffs, chihuahuas, or a fabulous mutt who needs a wonderful home! Please visit our main site to read more about our rescue, our adoption process, and to download an adoption application. www.furkidrescue.org
Come Meet Our Pets...
We do not have a physical location. We try to give our animals the best foster experience possible, not only for their comfort, but to implement training and make sure they are getting the best care imaginable. Once you are approved for an meet and greet, we are more than willing to bring the dog to your home so that you can spend time with the dog(s) of your choice
Our Adoption Process...
There is always an adoption fee to cover medical expenses such as spay/neuter/shots/pound fees. There is a home check and contract that is required to adopt a dog.
