I took pics of this hilarious cartoon like 'mature' gentleman at the shelter Saturday. Imagine my surprise when his old self went to the barnyard and started playing like a puppy! Want the best of both worlds? A dog that will nap with you and then romp with you until ya'll are tired enough to nap again! That's Warren Barkett. This big guy is a rottweiler/mastiff mix of about 90 pounds. He's got the most gentle soulful eyes you will ever see. He came in as a stray and he was really scared. His big self sat in the back of the kennel and just watched the world go by. He's learned that the shelter is home for now though and he will come up and say hello and take a treat if you have one to offer him. The best part of Warren is when you take him outside though. He walks nice on the leash, he's house trained and he's got moves that will put dogs half his age to shame! You just have to see him to believe it and while you're watching get a load of all the happy wiggles and tail wags that are going on too! Warren loves to play outside! If you have a home without tiny kids (he's shown us he is a little touch sensitive around his head) and you are looking for an easy going boy to share your life and home with then please stop by Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center at 341 S Birdneck Road. Ask to meet Warren (ID# 1601-0435) at the front and we will bring him out to say hello as he's currently in the back waiting for a spot on the transition floor. One more thing, we haven't had him out playing with other dogs, but he's been well behaved when being walked around other dogs, so if you have a dog at home please bring them along as well to make sure they want to be friends. Thank you for reading about this charming gent and feel free to share him with all your friends!
Virginia Beach Animal Care & Adoption Center has wonderful pets available for adoption. As of December 6, all animals are now at the new shelter at 341 Birdneck Road. The former shelter on Leroy Drive is now closed. If you have lost a pet, please visit the shelter in person and often as lost animals arrive everyday.
