Shasta's Story...
Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. We do require that all of your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. We do not have a shelter, and are a foster-home based organization. Other than meeting our babies at events, we do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org, under the Be A Hero heading.

Shasta had an owner but, not a family. She was only property, left for long periods in a crate that was far too small. So small in fact, that she ground her front teeth down to the gums trying to escape her prison. Any time she cried or begged for attention, she would be poked and prodded back into submission. She is partially blind in one eye as a result of her treatment. For Shasta, the shelter wasn't a death sentence, it was a wonderful new beginning for this sweet loving girl. Hero swooped in to give her a new lease on life. Shasta has been in her foster home for almost two months. Understandably, it took her a while to come out of her shell. In the beginning, she took refuge in her crate- it was her safe place. But with tons of love and patience and 5 fur siblings to help her learn how to be a family dog, she has blossomed into a perfect, loving and very grateful beagle.

Shasta will always carry with her the scars of her past but, with dogs as with people, tough times make us strong and truly appreciative of each and every day. She has such a great nature and forgiving sprit. Shasta loves love- she craves it and for all the attention she gets, she gives it back 10 fold. Shasta is a 4 year old beagle who is house trained (needs reminders but doing very well). We believe she will do best in a home where she is not alone for long periods of time. She is gaining confidence every day but probably would be better with older children or an all adult or retired household. She is fine with other dogs after a short adjustment period.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shasta, a CUMMING Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle for sale in CUMMING, or seeking a Beagle dog from a breeder in CUMMING.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in CUMMING already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a CUMMING breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle breeders who help with Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in CUMMING paves the way for another one to be saved.
