Licorice's Story...
10/28/16 - ADOPTION PENDING! Licorice is an approximately 6 year old, seven pound black Poodle. Her vetting is completed. She has a white blaze on her chest and her left foot is also white. She is a tall, thin looking girl compared to the other Poodles here. Her breeding days are over, and she's lucky to have made it out alive. While she wants to be with you, she's never seen inside a house and all the bright and shiny and noisy things that entails. She is starting to enjoy getting skritches, but she still shivvers on your lap. She is in the beginning stages of house training, and we are starting with using potty pads first because of her fear. She has never known having space to run, so being out in the back yard is overwhelming. She does best in the dog run where she is easier to catch, and she's quickly learned to do her business outside for the most part. Licorice really finds comfort when her friend Macaroon is near. She is very timid and is looking for a home with lots of patience and a willingness to work with her as she learns how to love being a part of a family. Please see our website for more information about adopting this dog, .

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Sullivan already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Sullivan breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Poodle (Toy or Tea Cup) breeders who help with Poodle (Toy or Tea Cup) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Sullivan paves the way for another one to be saved.
