Callie can be summed up simply as irresistible, cuddly and perfect! Her foster mom calls her a Love Bug, which is more than fitting! This spunky 10 month old girl is18 pounds and we believe her to be a Beagle/Dachshund mix. With those two breeds, you have to know that she has fun every moment of her day. It was so fortunate that Callie was found when she was because she wasn’t in good shape. She had a very severe infection in her eye and despite all efforts by her vet, the best course of action was to remove her eyeball and let her finally be free of the pain it was causing her. Although she’s missing one eye, she’s still the cutest girl in the room and it doesn’t slow her down a bit.
Callie’s personality shines when she’s around her human friends. Her favorite things to do are snuggling and playing with all of her doggy toys. Her best friend is her foster brother, a 60 pound pitbull mix and what a pair they are. She gets along great with all of the dogs that she knows, but she needs a proper and slow introduction to new pups. We aren’t sure if the lack of her left eye has anything to do with it or if she’s just a bit nervous still considering her rough beginning in life, but once she’s met another dog, they are fast friends. We feel that over time and with an understanding and patient new owner, she will overcome her anxiety of meeting newbies.
Callie is learning so much from the other dogs in her foster home and we feel that she’d be most comfortable in a family that has another dog or two that she can look to for guidance, confidence, as a playmate and an occasional cuddle. She loves to walk on her leash and strut around the neighborhood with all of her friends. She’s such a smart girl and we think with more one on one attention, she will likely be able to learn lots of new commands and tricks. She’s so affectionate that we would love to see her in a family that has plenty of time to devote to her daily.
Callie is still a puppy and needs a family that will help her continue learning all of her puppy manners and help her grow into a smart, well-mannered lady. She is well on her way due to the great care that her foster family is giving her. She is about 90% housebroken at this time and will need a little more time and patience to be perfect in that department. She still likes to occasionally use her puppy teeth to chew on things that sometimes are not hers, but that too will cease with time and guidance.
Callie is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, fully recovered from her eye surgery and ready to move on to the next step in life…her very own forever family.
