Facts about Jake

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Black (All)
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: A30958790
  • Hair: Short
Name: I go by Jake though I prefer to be called “Rug Thrasher”.
Looks: I am a handsome (if I do say so myself) black cat with glowing golden eyes.
Age: 1.5 years old
Food/Litter: I like a little dry and little wet food. Don’t even really care what kind of dry. I have pretty good litter box habits and am not picky with my litter. But I will confess….I like to kick litter all over the place. I need a bigger box with higher sides than the litter one I am using now. My foster mom is getting me one.
Friends or No Friends: My foster mom has several cats in her house. One is mean to me but I just run away and avoid him. One hisses but avoids me and I avoid her. The youngest will play with me a little bit. I don’t think I had friends before this so I am not always sure how to interact with the other kitties. I have never started a fight with one the house kitties. She also has some small older things called Chihuahuas. I avoid them and pretend I can’t even see them and they leave me alone.
Indoor/Outdoor: Well outdoors is bad for my health and I go a little crazy when I see the outside through the screen door. I think there are some outdoor cat cousins in the area that need some human friends like me. So probably best to keep me inside.
Toys: I haven’t quite figured out most of the cat toys yet. I mostly explore and lounge as all good cats do. But I have wrestled with my pal, Caspian, and I love the old fabric rug outside my room. I hold it in my paws and kick it and shape it any way I want. I need someone who will show me how fun toys can be!
Personality and My Quirks: I like to be held for short periods of time and will quickly purr while putting my head on your shoulder. I definitely love attention and will rub myself all over you. Ninja skills allow me to pop up out of nowhere and shove my face in your face to get some lovins! But while I enjoy the attention I also really like to explore on my own; sniffing and checking out my territory. I am a good boy for the most part; except when I get worked up and over stimulated with too much love and excitement. Then I can sometimes give love nips or will lash out gently with my paws. I calm down pretty quickly though and am good with communicating to my humans when I am getting excited.
My Human Preference: I probably would be best without young kids. I need an experienced cat owner who can understand my quirks and sometimes crazy personality. I am a good mix of lover and loner so someone who is gone for a while shouldn’t be a problem as long as they shower me with attention when they are home!
