Harvey's Story...
Harvey was found hiding in a Springfield alley shortly after July 4 - scared, confused and in a ton of pain. He was emaciated and had hair falling out in large patches. Worst of all was a terrible face wound with part of his nose and upper lip missing. We're not sure exactly what happened - either an avulsion from a terrible bite, or he was a little too successful chasing down an exploding firework! The rest of his diagnosis was also grim - malnourished, heart worm positive and demodectic mange.
He's a different dog now - a ridiculously happy puppy who's gaining weight, growing hair, and thanks to the help of Friends of Jacksonville Animals, Inc.?, beating the heart worms. And from the way Harvey loves EVERYONE - dogs, cats, people, birds and butterflies, we kinda think he must have caught that firework. He's looking for a home that wants a ball of energetic joy!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Harvey, a Jacksonville American Bulldog puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Bulldog for sale in Jacksonville, or seeking a American Bulldog puppy from a breeder in Jacksonville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Jacksonville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Jacksonville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Bulldog breeders who help with American Bulldog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Jacksonville paves the way for another one to be saved.
