JAGGER's Story...
Meet Jagger.  Jagger is a 3 year old male Australian Shepherd that is bi-colored.  Jagger came to BCIN via the Kauai Humane Society.  There are not a lot of options for herding breed dogs on the islands, and they reach out to rescues on the mainland to help them.

Jagger is well socialized with other dogs and enjoys playing with them.  This is a dog that is loyal, but can be protective of his territory, especially when it coms to fast moving objects like bikes and skateboards etc.  For this reason, we are recommending a home without children,  Jagger goes to a weekly dog class that is taught by his foster home, so he rides well in a car.  Sometimes, after the class, he accompanies them to dinner at an outdoor eatery.   Jagger is house trained and obedience started.  He loves to cuddle and is affectionate.

If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please fill out an adoption application.  We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled.  The electronic application can be found on our website at http://www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html

Why Adoption is a Great Option

JAGGER, a San Pedro Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd for sale in San Pedro, or seeking a Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in San Pedro.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Pedro already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Pedro breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Pedro paves the way for another one to be saved.
