Nike's Story...
AVAILABLE 06-29-16 Back in June an Animal Control Officer brought Nike to the Shelter in a trap. This sweet friendly boy must have been awfully hungry to end up in a trap. He kind of scraped up his nose trying to escape the trap, but it has healed now and Nike no longer has to worry about being hungry. Nike has done welll with other cats here at the Shelter and definitely loves people. His adoption fee includes his neuter, a collar, SPCA ID tag and a microchip. The Shelter is open Sat. - Wed. from 10am - 3:30pm and Thur. & Fri. 10am - 6pm, so come and meet Nike Soon.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Nike, a Elizabeth City Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Elizabeth City, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Elizabeth City.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Elizabeth City already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Elizabeth City breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Elizabeth City paves the way for another one to be saved.
