Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Name: Maverick
Age: 4 years old
Disability: Affects of Distemper, seizures controlled by meds.
PWD will cover cost of meds for Maverick.
Breed/Weight: Shepherd mix, 60 pounds
History: Maverick's primary caretaker became very ill and could no longer care for him. Maverick is being fostered in South Jersey.
This is what his foster mom had to say about this sweet dog, "This sweet boy adores the outdoors, so a fenced in area is required because he loves to run in and out. Maverick likes going for walks, being combed, and loves car rides - he is so well behaved in the car you don't even know he is there. Maverick does great with dogs and is cat friendly. He is housebroken and crate trained. Maverick has been fostered to adopt twice but returned, so we are cautious with placing him again. We are looking for someone in close proximity to his foster mom in South Jersey - within an hour. Maverick is a very independent dog (at times cat like) so if you are looking for the snuggle dog, Maverick is not the dog. Maverick loves hugs but he does not also initiate affection like other dogs. When he wants your attention he sometimes mouths, knocks things over or barks. He is good boy with a unique personality. We feel that he would do best in a home with another dog. Everyone who has ever met Maverick just LOVES him."
Note: Maverick is on several medications for seizures, and a particular dog food that works for him, he receives meds in the morning and evening and dog food can be found easily online or a local feed and farm store. Medications will be provided by the rescue. Our vet noted, dogs with seizures do need to stay on a strict routine and not to deviate from his schedule too much.
