My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Paco, an 8/9lb chihuahua has had a rough life. He is 6/7 years old and was hit by a car and taken to the shelter. His owner came in to claim him but once she learned he needed medical attention, so turned and walked away.

Paco's injuries where extreme. He had two broken legs, hip and a double broken pelvis. After months of healing, he did end up losing his back right leg. It just couldn't heal enough to allow his knee to be usable. The other leg healed very well, however, and can completely support him.

Despite his 3 legs, he gets along just fine!!! He can walk faster than you think when he really wants to go somewhere and has no issues going potty (which he'll only do outside). The only thing he hasn't conquered yet is going up stairs. He's goes down just fine but waits at the bottom to be brought back up.

This small boy endured 90+ of cage rest, a painful recovery and couldn't even urinate on his own for the first few days after surgery. He had to be taken into the vet every day to have his bladder manually drained. But he always had the will to live and his spirit carried him through to a full recovery!

For whatever reason, Paco's hair is taking forever to grow back. The vet office has seen other dogs of the same breed and color take a year to grow their hair back in. I guess that will be him too. The spot you see on his back is the shaved area where his pain patch was. That has to grow back in too.

Paco will not be placed in a home with children due to him only having the one back leg. We wouldn't want a child to fall on him, potentially causing harm.

He's not an active dog. He doesn't play with other dogs but is good with all of them. He dreams of being a lap dog in a warm, calm home :-)

If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application located at
https://dogsunlimited.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application-for-dogs-unlimited-rescue/

All Dogs Unlimited Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on all shots, and are given a monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Upon adoption, all vet records and any current medications are provided to the adopter.

THE SUBMISSION OF YOUR APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE AN ADOPTION NOR DOES IT OBLIGATE YOU TO ADOPT. Multiple applications are accepted for any available pet and a home is chosen that is the best match between the available pet and the potential furever family. Your application will be processed as quickly as possible and if approved, a home visit would be scheduled. No adoption is final until an Adoption Agreement is presented and agreed to by both parties.

Our goal is to find the right match of our dogs to their new family so all involved are furever happy! Questions: email adopt@dogsunlimitedrescue.org

And THANK YOU for considering a rescue dog for your family!
