Meet Winston, known affectionately as “Winnie” to his foster family. Winston is a tan and white, American Bully mix who is approximately three years old.
Winston is a very special dog who has overcome so much in a very short time. When he arrived at Dallas Animal Services, his back legs were paralyzed. Thanks to great vet care and lots of love from his foster family, Winston has gained back his mobility and has learned to stand and walk on his own again! He is now known to gallop around, but still has a few moments of losing his balance. Not bad for a pup who was paralyzed not that long ago!
Dogs are known for their resilience, and Winston is no exception! Despite his setbacks, he remains a happy, loving dog. He loves to give and receive affection, and he loves people especially kids. He dreams of a forever home with kids to play with and adore. Winston enjoys when you pet his neck and ears, if you stop, he will nudge you with his paw to ask for more. When he isn’t busy being affectionate, he likes to pass the time with rawhides and toys. He is super playful! One of Winston’s favorite things is tennis balls! He absolutely loves them and will play with one all day long.
Winston is an absolute head-turner! Everywhere he goes, he gets compliments because he is that good looking! But don’t worry; he doesn’t let it go to his endearingly oversized head! Winston also has the sweetest, most loving eyes that you will find irresistible.
Winston is crate trained, but prefers to be in the closet when it storms. He is good with other dogs, but would probably do great as an only dog, too. Unfortunately, he is not a fan of cats.
Winston is a tender boy who has triumphed over adversity. He is very strong and will do best with an adopter who can handle his strength. He is ready for a forever home with a loving family of his own!
Winston is available for pre-adopt only at this time, as he is heartworm positive. Heartworm disease is a non-contagious and treatable condition in dogs, but is fatal if left untreated.
