Friendly, inquisitive, happy, playful, affectionate, and quite handsome – these are the words that describe our sweet boy Staccato! We rescued Staccato and a large group of dogs from Kern County that became known as the musical group. He arrived all skin and bones, and we worked on putting more meat back on his bones with every passing day. Staccato enjoys going on walks with our volunteers and checking out his surroundings. The hound in him makes him want to sniff everything in sight and check everything out at least once, including passing two or four legged friends. Out in the yard he loves to explore every nook and cranny with his doggie friends, or run after toys we throw for him. It’s not exactly a game of fetch since he doesn’t always pick the toys up; he just enjoys the chase and exercise. Staccato absolutely loves to get scratched behind his long ears, and this sweet boy will maintain eye contact with you while resting his head on you to show you how much he enjoys getting showered with affection. We estimate him to be right around 50-55 pounds, he is and about 5 and a half years old as of November 2015. When Staccato is not out accompanying volunteers on walks, roaming the play yard or enjoying the company of people, he likes to serenade us while we do our job – he is classic Coonhound through and through!
