I can still remember my very first day at HATS. I was terrified! I'd been caught in a livetrap and had to ride in the back of a truck. Have you ever ridden in the back of a pick-up going down M-20? Not a very peaceful ride, let me tell you. So after they took me out of that contraption, I hid in the back of my kennel for almost a week. I would hiss and growl at anyone who attempted to touch me. Could you blame me? I didn't know or trust these new people! But slowly, I began to realize I was at a good place. These people were giving me food and trying to take care of me. Fast forward several weeks later and I was crawling into staff laps and begging for attention. These days, you can find me in one of the catteries hanging out with my other cat friends. I don't care for dogs, but I like older children.

About Humane Animal Treatment Society

About Our Shelter...

The Humane Animal Treatment Society (HATS) is a
volunteer, community based organization that exists
to provide a valuable public service in emphasizing the
vital importance of spaying and neutering, and preventing
the suffering and death of countless unwanted animals.
Every adoption is one more step in breaking the chain of
unwanted litters of puppies and kittens from irresponsible,
uncontrolled breeding.

HATS spays or neuters 100% of the animals who are adopted from the shelter. Through adoption fees, the Humane Animal Treatment Society recoups only a fraction of the costs directly related to the treatment of animals while in our care.

Our organization relies on donations to fund these valuable programs and to continue care for our furry friends. The funds we receive help offset medical expenses and assist with the housing and care of shelter animals who are awaiting forever homes.

Our Adoption Process...

Every adoption is one more step in breaking the chain of
unwanted litters of puppies and kittens from irresponsible,
uncontrolled breeding.

Upon intake, every animal receives age appropriate
