Here's what the humans have to say about me:
When we first saw Billy at the shelter, we thought he was some hybrid exotic breed dog because he has no black fur on his back or tail. After researching, we concluded that this is his normal coat and he has Black Hair Follicle Dysplasia which is an inherited condition and results in hair loss in the pigmented black or dark hair areas of a young puppy that is purebred or crossed with a purebred. There is no treatment and it doesn't seem to bother him at all. We were able to obtain the vets records from Billy's vet from when his previous owners got him at 6 weeks old and he was this way then. They surrendered him to a kill shelter as they had a new baby that was allergic to him. We have no idea what breed he is except that he is just a very beautiful and unusual dog, he is approx 4 years old and 15 lbs He needs an experienced adopter with no children under 12. When we first rescued him, he was a fear biter as he was so scared - it was hard to get a leash on him. After he decompressed a couple of weeks, he decided he was going to be my best friend/lap dog and likes to help me on the computer. He can still get snippy if you try and make him do something he doesn't want to do, but he is a very smart dog!!! He is choosy about bigger dogs and likes to chase and bark at them, but does well with dogs his size, or smaller. He seems to be very well house and leash trained and will hop right up in the car. He did well at the vets for his check up and shots, but they said he does not like having his feet or belly touched. He is just a very interesting and unusual dog, and truly beautiful and needs the right owner.
The total adoption cost of $525 includes the required interstate health certificate and transport , spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, lepto, distemper and canine influenza, and micro chip with a lifetime pre paid registration . The total amount is payable to Shaggy Dog Rescue which is a 501c3. All our dogs are in foster care, there is no physical shelter. Some have not yet arrived in PA.
