step up at this time, but that does not mean Jay is not a great bird Jay
prefers taking head scratches outside of his cage. He loves headscratches
and millet balls. He is such a ham (quote from the Birdie Foster Care Taker)
Jay loves chatting to his care taker.
What do you need to know about Jay, a white crowned pionus?
Pionus parrots are not known to be cuddly birds and can be described as
reserved. Jay is not particularly playful, and he does not enjoy being
wrestled with or flipped on their backs. He likes to know what his care
taker is doing and if Jay cannot see you, he will call out to make sure you
are around. He is not loud
but he loves chattering about the days event.
Like any Pionus, when Jay is not comfortable with the environment or person
in the environment, he will pace and make wheeze or snorting sound that is
sometimes mistaken for a sign of distress.
Jay does love misting but only when he is ready. Jay has a musky or sweet
odor depending on your nose.
