Here's what the humans have to say about me:
It got scarily close to Smokey's euthanasia time in a dismal Texas shelter. It was definitely through no fault of his own..it's all a matter of space. He came in at a very crowded time and was therefore given just hours to be rescued. After a scramble by our very compassionate Texas rescuer (they have a soft spot for a fuzzy guy with a great temperament!), Smokey was pulled out of the shelter at the last second possible. They have not stopped raving about this adorable and engaging guy ever since.
Smokey, at about 7 - 7.5 years old and 7 lbs is exactly the right size to take along just about anywhere. He is the perfect candidate to find his forever home in Colorado - Smokey is a natural-born walker with the energy and enthusiasm to accompany his favorite person everywhere a small and sweet dog is welcome.
We envision Smokey in a home with active retirees who enjoy spending their time with a comical fuzzy guy He would be a very family-oriented pup if given the chance...adventures, vacations or just hanging out at home would speak to the nature of this pup. A fun time would be exploring dog-friendly spots or time spent socializing with like-sized gentle canines and their dog-loving families.
At the end of the day...there would be nothing better for Smokey than to snuggle down with his family of humans and canines. He can be counted on to be a truly positive addition to any family. Smokey is a low-maintenance guy whose joy at being part of a committed family would know no bounds. He would shine in positive reinforcement group obedience classes since his desire to please is so strong...and it would create that special bond that exists between a trained, motivated dog and his people.
After passing his temperament tests and vetting with flying colors, Smokey is in a foster home in Houston being reminded of his house skills. We'll give updates as we gain more insight into his personality traits.
Smokey is a non-shedding guy and considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic breed mixes available today. His gorgeous cottony-soft waves of shining hair will become more beautiful with great nutrition and care. Smokey will require a commitment to periodic grooming to keep his lovely coat healthy and matt-free. .
Smokey will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 9/9/16. If interested in this sweet pup who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
