Hi, hi, HI! I am so excited! I was recently rescued, and I am in a foster home where I am getting lots of love and attention. Oh, excuse me, I almost forgot to introduce myself! My name is Laddie, and I am a female, rough coat Border Collie mix. And I know Laddie is usually a boy’s name (like Laddie Boy), but I kinda dig it! Everyone tells me I am a good-looking girl and, while I don’t like to brag, I am beginning to believe them.
I’m about 5 years old, I weigh about 60 pounds, and I am a very calm lady. I am house trained, and I am a REALLY good girl inside the home. Like all proper ladies, I listen extremely well, and I never jump on furniture! And I LOVE my foster Mom's kids! I do react to noises and quick movements with a start, though, so a house with older children would probably be best.
Also - and, boy, this is hard for me to admit- I get intimidated by men. BUT I'm really good with my foster Dad! I think the family environment helps. It's just, I had it pretty rough for a while -oh, like my coat! HA, no pun intended! Anyhoo, I do need an adjustment period. Just to get my bearings in a new environment. And a family who understands that- especially a more experienced dog owner- would be amazing. Whatever happened to me before, I try not to let it get me down. I promise, I'm very sweet and cuddly once I get to know you!!
In fact, I just might become your shadow. I love to be near my people! I'm good with other dogs -a lady always plays nice- but I tend to push my way between Mom and any other furry object of her affection. Maybe a home where I am the only dog would be best? I am definitely not opposed to meeting potential future fursiblings to see how we... what do the kids say... gel? Probably no cats, though. I haven't met any, but my breed has been known to get a little... overzealous around feline friends.
My foster mom is working with me on leash training...I pull a little, but I am improving—I didn’t know what a leash was! And I get protective when folks I don't know approach us. I don't mean to be rude, I am really just expressing my gratitude by making sure you are safe! See, you saved my life, and you keep me safe, and I will never forget it! When I get protective, I am trying to return a very big favor.
I am really looking forward to finding my new home! Maybe a home with a yard, if it's not too much to ask? If you think I’m a good match for your family, you can meet me! It sure would be nice to know you.
