Alex Puerto Rico's Story...
I'm from Puerto Rico!
Alex was born about December 2, 2012 and weighs about 45-50 lbs. He is a pretty boy with very long legs so we are leaning in the Greyhound direction, but really have no clue of what breed mixes he really is. A lovely note comes from the P.R. Foster Mom for the new family. Alex's canine mom was killed by a car when the litter was only 6 weeks old and a nearby family took the pups home and treated them like their own seeking to find homes. She goes on to say that Alex does have an alpha personality and is cautious of new humans. We are seeking dog savvy humans for his next family. She also states that he is a 'lap dog' and would do ok with one other dog in his new home or may be best as an only dog. He is athletic and benefits from enough activity. She loved him very much and sent him here to find a better home than they could give hm as they also have multiple dogs. Puerto Rico has a dog over population problem and that is why they try desperately to send some to the mainland in areas such as ours where the population problem of nice, family, dogs is pretty well under control. The Adoption Fee for this dog is $125.00.
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.
Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES
We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.
Our primary goals here at Joyful Rescues are to re-home pets and save them from becoming homeless in the future, educate the public on pet care and spaying/neutering to control the pet overpopulation, to spay/neuter every pet before they leave us and spay/neuter as many pets, belonging to the public, as possible within our means.
