My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Burger needs a forever home he can call his own! His temporary foster home is trying to care for him until he's placed but they are running out of time.
Please help Burger - apply to adopt him or reach out with any questions - please don't wait!
Thank you so much for visiting Burger's page! Burger is a med energy dog with poor impulse control but we're working on this and he's doing much better. He has limitations around food and high prized possession (like toys, bones, etc.) with other animals but fortunately not with humans. Due to these behaviors, at this time, we're seeking to place him as a single pet, unless we receive an application from an experienced adult only home.
He came to us emaciated but has put on approx. 20 pds in the few months that we've had him and is now a good weight. He has scaring on his face and some on his body likely from his stray days (which likely included fights w/ animals over food, other, etc.) when he was fending for himself (and likely why he has the mild-behavior issues he has) but given his coloring it's not terribly noticeable (and he's beautiful no matter). We recently treated him for a possible inner-ear infection due to the way he suddenly began tilting his head but there's a chance something else medically is going on and we're working on figuring out what that might be (update: Burger is doing great medically - could have been a one off incident). These things don't change Burger's need for a forever home but limit the families that will/can consider him, making him a special needs sweetheart.
Burger absolutely loves people and attention, seeking humane guidance and affection. With compassion, love and disciple, with a wonderful person/family that can fit his needs, Burger will do amazing. He has so much to offer and truly needs a lucky break. His silly puppy behavior always brings a a big smile to his foster family's faces. The way he walks over from behind and gently pushes his head through their legs looking up, waiting for some good under chin rubbing, melts their hearts. His efforts towards good behavior are truly commendable, one of their favorite is his dash (though they're working on a slower dash) with a fast sit when told to go to his bed to wait for his treat.
Burger is such a love and absolutely deserves a forever home he can finally call his own. His foster family would absolutely keep him if they could but circumstance around their living situation is not only preventing them from signing an adoption contract with his name on it but is limiting the time they can continue to foster him:( Hoping his story will touch you as he has touched us and that you will consider opening your heart and home to Burger. If interested, please don't hesitate to reach out. Burger is patiently waiting and looking forward to meeting his family soon.
Although life has not been kind to Burger he holds no grudge, on the contrary, he absolutely ADORES people and can't wait to share his affection. I know it's difficult to look at his photos and watch his video but please see past his current body condition and afford him the future he deserves where he can continue to flourish into a well cared for canine company beautiful inside and out!
