Alecia is a grey-white tuxedo Maine Coon mix. Her Maine Coon heritage is reflected in her size, fur, and, most importantly, her personality. You look at her and see a beautiful, seemingly dainty little girl cat with the cutest quizzical expression, dazzling soft white fur, and beautiful green eyes. Then when you pick her up, you realize that under that fur, this is a big cat with big Maine Coon bones weighing in at 16.5 lbs. As you hold her, you find she has a big purr to match. As you get to know her and look into her green eyes, you will find she has the classic female Maine Coon personality – intelligent, playful, loving, and looking for her very special person(s) to bond with.
Alecia and her brother (?) Henry were rescued by a Purebred Plus volunteer visiting an Animal Control shelter. Their original owners had to move to assisted living (no pets allowed) with no choice but to surrender them to the shelter and hope for the best. Alecia and Henry were beloved pets, indoor only. Initially both had difficulty coping when their world suddenly came crashing down. But Alecia quickly bounced back, told Henry to buckle up, and now that they are in foster care, they are doing just fine. They reach out to humans for companionship, play, and affection.
Alecia may initially appear to be reserved, even tentative. But no worries, she is just checking out the situation and gathering data, until she decides, and, suddenly, you have a very large, beautiful Maine Coon mix on your lap, making biscuits, asking to play, and purring up a storm.
Alecia is an excellent choice for first time kitty owners – for solos, couples, or families. She is low maintenance, very polite, and very tolerant. In foster care, she avoided cat conflict and never struck out in fear or anger. She probably would do well with a cat-friendly dog who already knows that the cat is in charge; or in a family with cat savvy children; or as a second cat with the understanding that her focus would be on her humans first, her cat companions second.
Alecia is spayed, up to date on vaccines, FELV/FIV negative, dewormed, microchipped, and current with flea prevention. Her fur does have a bit of Persian, but even though she does mat, she loves to be brushed. She has been known to politely spin her brush like a top to remind you that here she is and here is the brush. (Just in case it slipped your mind).
Alecia’s foster mom is Diane in Sacramento, CA.
