My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Preston is every bit a gentleman. He first arrive at our house overly excited to meet our two resident female dogs. They immediately scolded Preston and he learned the first time. Since those two encounters, he has established himself as the calming force in our busy household. We’ve had some exceptionally patient dogs over the years; and Preston is right up there with the best of them. He has free roam of the house and has given us absolutely no reason to modify that decision. Hopefully, his demeanor will rub off on our rambunctious 2 year-old. Preston tends to curl up on the couch and sleep there throughout the night. His appetite is wonderful. He walks well on a leash. He does all business outside … on walks as well as while playing in the yard. He learned quickly that he doesn’t need to take my entire hand while accepting a treat … he is so gentle now (quick learner). He’s just really smart and gentle. He leans on our legs and sometimes if feels as though he can’t get close enough. He’s a great addition to our household; and, will be a great addition to another household.

Preston met my mom's cats and was more curious than anything. He was alert of them but didn’t chase or try to hurt them. He loves other Dogs!!! He is patient and calm with people. He has not met children yet.

He seemed a little scared during a recent storm we had and got up on the bed with us. We did tell him to get down and he went to the dog bed beside our bed…then, I think he eventually made his way to the couch, where he likes to sleep.
He and the resident dog will chase after a ball if you throw if for them. They are competitive and want to beat the other one to it!

Overall, he’s a lover and wants to crawl onto your lap and snuggle.Preston is about 8-9 years old and 54 lbs. Since we don't know at all what doggy genes are in the dogs make up (we don't know who mom and dad are!), we are just guessing on breed and size when grown.

All dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They have all had a vet exam, are up to date on vaccinations, have been given a dewormer, are treated for fleas, have a heartworm test if over 6 months old and are up to date on a heartworm preventative.

Please note that because we require a home visit at the time of adoption we can only place animals in homes within a 60 mile radius of Minneapolis. If you are interested in meeting this dog please fill out the pre-adoption application on our website at http://www.safehandsrescue.org under Adopt and we will get back to you to arrange a meeting in the foster home.

We also have an Adoptable Dog Meet & Greet on Saturday October 1, 2016, at Fetch Delivers Warehouse, 783 Harding St. NE. Suite 150, Minneapolis, MN 55413, from noon - 2 pm. Occasionally dogs cannot make it to the Meet & Greet, therefore feel free to verify if your dog of interest is able to attend. Please bring a copy of your pre-adoption application.
