Facts about Jams

  • Breed: Labrador Retriever
  • Color: Tan/Yellow/Fawn
  • Age: Senior
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
  • Sex: Male
Jams is one special boy. Having lived most of his life outside by himself, he wants to be right by his people. He takes no time for warming up to you. He will immediately put his head in your lap for pets or drop the ball in front of you to throw. Apparently he is 10 years old? Well, I have never seen a 10 year old lab like Jams. He will play fetch till you are tired (not him), jog as many miles as you want and likely hike Camelback! He absolutely loves to swim but will only jump in the pool if you invite him. He is an absolute pleaser. He knows sit and stay and is perfectly potty trained. He loves kids and all dogs. He plays very well. I'm not sure about cats but I would guess he wouldn't try to hurt one. He loves the car and is great on a leash. He also sleeps perfectly on a dog bed all night long but of course would love to sleep with a loved one in their bed too. Jams suffers from separation anxiety so he would really like an owner or family where people are home often. He is currently on medication for it and it is helping him. He will need to be crated in a secure crate while owners leave the house. I believe Jams will make such an amazing addition to anyone who has the time to spend with him and is looking for that immediate unconditional love from a lab.

About Desert Labrador Retriever Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Here is our mission statement from our website:
Desert Labrador Retriever Rescue of Phoenix (DLRR) is a non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to finding loving, life-long homes for displaced Labrador Retrievers. In addition to rescue, our volunteers provide medical care and/or rehabilitation for these dogs and then attempt to match them with appropriate, permanent homes. We also provide Labrador Retriever breed and training information on request. Through public education, we strive to help eliminate animal overpopulation by encouraging the spaying and neutering of pets.

Come Meet Our Pets...

DLRR has regular events where potential adopters and the public can see some of our dogs. These events are listed on our website at www.dlrrphoenix.org.
As noted in the description below of how to adopt one of our labs, approved adopters may contact one of our volunteers to meet one of our available dogs.
Also check out our Facebook page, where many of our dogs are spotlighted. www.facebook.com/desertlab

Our Adoption Process...

Every potential adopter (who must live in Arizona) must fill out an online form and pay a small fee. A volunteer will contact the potential adopter and schedule a home visit. If everything looks good at the home visit, the potential adopter begins to receive our Dogalog twice a week that shows all available dogs. If a potential adopter is interested in a particular dog, he or she contacts the volunteer listed for that particular dog and arranges a time to meet the dog. If it is a potential match, we ask the adopter to think about it for about 24 hours. There is a fee to adopt one of our dogs and it is based on the dog's age, with younger dogs having a larger fee than our older labs. There is a contract to be signed.
