Our Adoption Process...
About our adoption process:
Whether it's a dog found on the streets, or an owner surrender we must wait 72 hours before adopting out. This allows us time to assess the dogs personality and temperament. If they are found on the street and we are called, we use these 72 hours to assess the dog as well as try to find their owner.
Once the dog is available for adoption we list them as available with a short bio and some pictures. Anyone interested in adopting must fill out an application.
Applications generally take 1-3 business days to process. Processing an application includes it being reviewed by all Directors and the President of the rescue, and personal and vet reference checks are done. If an application is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet. If that goes well and you still want to adopt the dog by this point, we will set up a home visit and an adoption date. The adoption fee will be collected on the adoption date unless otherwise discussed.
Dogs who still need to be spayed or neutered and are old enough for surgery will be spayed/neutered prior to you taking them home. If adopting a puppy, a spay/neuter contract will be signed and this surgery must be completed once they are 6 months old.
Adoption fees are decided on a case-by-case basis depending upon the age and health of the dog, and what treatments may have been done. All dogs receive age appropriate vaccinations, de-worming, spay/neuter, and microchip as a part of the adoption.
This process is to ensure the dogs are adopted out to the best homes possible, and to ensure they will not be mistreated, abandoned again, or unhappy in any way.
Thank you for choosing to adopt!
