Hazel is a 2 year old, spayed, Weimaraner/lab mix with a pale coat and undercoat and Weimaraner eyes, dew claws, and a natural, lab tail. She appears to have gained the best of both breeds! She is fostering with 2 other dogs and immediately made friends and accepted the established pecking order. She was brought to the shelter by her owner along with her brother for breaking out of the yard. Hazel's prey drive, according to her foster Dad, is not aggressive or more than you would expect from a Weimaraner. In fact when the resident dogs are barking at the small dog through the fence next door, Hazel doesn't even get involved other than maybe a single bark. Similarly, with chasing the backyard squirrels.
Hazel quickly learned to use the dog door to go in and out with her pals and may not have been house trained by the prior owner. We believe she was most likely kept outside. As a result, she would do well with an obedience class to learn who the leader will be and some useful commands. Her foster Dad says she is a wonderful family dog and would most likely enjoy living with another medium to large size dog. Hazel is current on all her vaccinations and is being fostered in Oakland, CA.
