Daisy's Story...

Daisy is one of our special needs pups.  She suffers from Rheumatoid Arthritis and her previous owner let it go for so long without treatment that she lost the ability to walk using her back legs. We saw her and knew that she deserved a chance to experience a happy life and she has been attending aqua therapy as well as acupuncture on a weekly basis to help her lose weight, gain strength and build up the stamina to "walk" again.  She was custom fitted for a cart and now she gets out and about with so much pride and a constant wag of her tail.  Her foster mom has to do most of the work but our little Daisy is trying to use her legs as mom pulls on the leash and rolls her along.  We don't know if she will ever be able to walk normally but we can tell you it doesn't stop her from being a wonderful companion and snuggle bug to her family.  She is a happy girl that is so deserving of a forever family that can provide her the daily exercise and attention that she needs.  Yes, it is a bit more work to help a special needs pup but the rewards are endless.  If you have the capacity to welcome her into your home, your heart and give her the time she needs to keep her condition in check, you will not be disappointed.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Daisy, a Ridgefield Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Ridgefield, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Ridgefield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Ridgefield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Ridgefield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Ridgefield paves the way for another one to be saved.
