If you're ever looking for a convincing reason to laze around on the couch, Sampson is your man. He will make any couch look like the most comfortable spot to be on.
Sampson doesn't ever ask for much. All he wants is a couch to snooze on all day long, a full belly, and someone to share the room with. He is calm, mellow and eager to please and will always welcome you home with his whole body wriggling with joy.
Unlike most untrained dogs, Sampson never jumps up in excitement. Instead, his welcome routine is rolling over for belly rubs and leaning his body into you for hugs. Outside of that, he doesn't demand snuggles and is glad to be left alone to snooze, but you can easily demand it from him, and he will lie there in your arms, lap or even cradled like a baby without a struggle.
Sampson has not had a chance to learn any basic obedience commands, but he is easy to correct, trots delightfully easy next to you on a leash, is house trained and has never been destructive even when left alone at home.
Sampson used to live with many other dogs and is unfamiliar with humans. Because of that, he is shy and will need you to go slow and gentle with him so he can learn to trust you.
He likes having the freedom to roam the house and be on his favorite couch, so he doesn't enjoy being stuck in a crate all day, but he does fine sleeping in it for the night. Left alone, he will bark for your return initially, but settles down after awhile to snooze on the couch or search for treats in his puzzle toys.
Sampson needs a new home that will teach him to trust people and work with him on the basic obedience commands so he can enjoy everything this world, and humans, have to offer.
