Sweet Emmy!

Emmy is a beautiful and sweet, sweet, 2-yr-old fawn-and-white staffordshire girl who was abused, and shot by someone with a BB gun. We aim to show her the best life ever, as she is so deserving and wonderful, loving humans regardless.  She is just 57 lbs.

She will give kisses and wags her tail and love affection.

Emmy was kenneled with another dog at the shelter (see video, they call her Roxy before she was renamed) but we believe she will be best as an only dog in your home, especially to receive all the love you have to offer.

She is very interested in cats so a feline-free home will suit her well. She is in training though, and doing very well. Emmy is in a loving foster home. Below are the key notes from her foster mom :)

1. Emmy's a sound sleeper so she's not going to disturb the sleep of an owner who lets her sleep on the bed.
2. I haven't heard Emmy bark one time, so I would classify her as "not a barker". This will appeal to anyone who's ever dealt with a barker.
3. Emmy would be great for a runner on sidewalks or out in the country, as she prefers to trot on her walks. Because her attention is focused forward and up (not nose to the ground stopping to smell the roses) she keeps forward momentum. When she learns the etiquette of staying with her human (not veering towards squirrels or  barking dogs behind fences) she'll be an ideal running partner.
4. Emmy would be great for a hiker. I've taken Emmy into the grassy hills around my house and she's interested in the birds hiding in the bushes. Even in 40 degree weather she wants to be outside. She's got stamina (up to an hour up and down steep hills, nonstop with no signs of stopping). Anyone who's ever dealt with a dog who quits mid-hike will will appreciate Emmy's athleticism.
5. Emmy isn't fixated on any one toy, and is especially disinterested in balls. This will appeal to anyone who's ever tried to interact with a ball-obsessed dog.
6. I let Emmy go where she wants while I'm working, and she tends to want to be sleeping next to my desk or sitting on a chair next to me, looking out the window.
7. Emmy demands very little special attention but she likes to be present with a person.
8. Emmy loves cuddles!

She is spayed, updated on all shots, and ready for your love. Her adopt fee is $295.

About Saving Great Animals

About Our Rescue Group...

Saving Great Animals is a match-making rescuer. We have no public facility. We work individually to do our best in matching your desires and lifestyle to the best animal pal. We love what we do! We are Seattle-based but have representatives in all parts of Washington state and the Pacific Northwest.

We are volunteer-based and everyone in our rescue works full time at paying careers,

Saving Great Animals has been working tirelessly as a no-kill, foster-based rescue for the last 9 years. We also are connected to a wide network of foster homes and numerous shelters around the state to find permanent homes for animals that are deserving of love and a family. Many of the dogs and cats we rescue would otherwise face unecessary euthanization.

We also work hard to bring dogs and cats into SGA directly from their former home so they animals will never enter the shelter system which has environments that can be very stressful for them, even though we know so many shelter workers who are tireless too in helping the animals.

A very small percentage of our dogs come to us from our sister-shelter in Taiwan, where these dogs are typically rescued from deplorable circumstances.

All of our pets available for foster or adoption also are listed on PetFinder at (http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/WA418.html).

To contact SGA directly, please email info@savinggreatanimals.org.

If you are interested in fostering or volunteering, we want to hear from you! We are finalizing our 501 C-3 status; and do appreciate any and all donations as 100% of our funds, every penny, goes to the animals. We are always extremely tight on funds, frequently dipping into our own pockets. All donations can be paid by paypal by sending to perrin@savinggreatanimals.org
