Sweet little Nugget is just that! A tiny little Staffy mix that came to us from DACC. She has recovered from Pyometra and is ready for her forever home!
Nugget is a very happy, young girl. She is very active and will need daily mental and physical exercise. Her prey drive is extremely high, so I'm recommending she not go to a home with cats, small dogs, or small children. Nugget is working on all her manners and doing very well. She redirects well, chooses the appropriate toys to play with, is learning to walk on a loose leash, and is beginning obedience. She loves a squeaky tennis ball which will aid in her further development. She settles nicely on the couch for tv and snuggle time and gives the sweetest little kisses. She takes treats gently. She is a bit bossy with the other dogs in my house and likes to have all the toys. She accepts correction well from my Labrador who doesn't tolerate any crap, but she takes advantage of my Staffy and tends to treat her as prey. She can get over stimulated quickly while playing with the other dogs, but is learning how to play appropriately. Exercise and leadership are key for this young, busy, sweet girl. She will run the household if she is allowed to. She is very quiet, clean, and non-detructive in her crate.

About Divine Canine Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Divine Canine Rescue is a vision brought to life by a group of family members devoted to the wellbeing of all animals. Most of the members grew up in a home that seemed to be a dumping ground for many unwanted pets that were always welcomed with open arms! They were given food, shelter, vet care and most of all LOVE!

Our goal is to help save the lives of unwanted dogs in the shelters of Michigan. Through positive reinforcement, training, proper vetting, exercise and compassion, they will have the time they need to readjust and learn HOW to be a good dog so that they can live the life they were meant to live. By working closely with the local shelters and rescue groups, many lives will be saved and we can help them find the forever homes they truly deserve.

Not only do we have plans to rescue and care for these wonderful dogs, we also want to take time to educate the public on the importance of spay and neutering, year-round heart worm prevention and yearly vaccinations. Sometimes people have good intentions but just don't understand WHAT responsible pet ownership is all about. Through advice on training, vet care, proper diet and grooming, we can educate those pet owners who want to do the right thing, but just don't know how. That knowledge will help keep pet owners from giving up and surrendering their beloved pets to shelters and rescue groups.

Along with education on responsible pet ownership, we also want to incorporate responsible "Pit Bull" ownership. This is a breed that our rescue is very passionate about. So many good dogs are put down in shelters and dumped on the streets just because they appear to be a Pit Bull... this has got to stop! The scrutiny that this particular group of dogs has been under has driven us to help them. Through care and guidance if we can change just one person's mind about this group of breeds, we will have done our job.
