My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

COURTESY LISTING for DREW. This dog is not at Oregon Dachshund Rescue. For information please contact Marcia at 541-880-4946 or marciacrawford65@yahoo.com.

BIO (from Drew's previous family):
Precious Precious Drew is an 8 year old, all black female Dachshund. Although she is getting a little white in the face, she still has plenty of love and sweet life in her. Drew was previously rescued from a family that could no longer care for her – unfortunately, she now finds herself in that circumstance again. There are SO many incredibly wonderful qualities about Drew, but there is one thing that makes her super special: she is blind. However, she doesn't let that stop her. Drew loves walking around the perimeter of the property and chewing on bones. She does not play with toys or other dogs, but gets along with other dogs just fine. She likes being around men. She travels just fine in the car, actually likes to go on car rides. She has not received any obedience training, but she will come to too you if you call her. She is house trained. She loves to have her belly rubbed and she loves to spend afternoons sleeping on her pillow. Drew also loves to sun herself on warm sunny afternoons in the drive way or grass. She loves to be petted and loved on or sitting beside you in your chair. Although they cannot care for her, her previous human family has requested Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc help Drew find a truly loving forever home for this precious little girl. She is a good dog, who loves to be with people and deserves a special family.

You may wonder why such a precious little Doxie is being surrendered. Here is what her previous human mom shared with us:

My reason for giving her up at this time is my husband has Bi-polar and Dementia and recently had an incident where he lost it and picked her up three times and slammed her to the ground and then threw her over a 10-foot fence….it has upset me greatly. I realized that I cannot trust him with animals. We are separating but I am handicapped now and I am unable to take care of Drew myself. I have her staying with a friend temporarily until I can find a forever home for her. I truly desire a good home for her where she is much loved. I cannot see her hurt again.

Please note that this is a Courtesy Listing for a doxie that is NOT at Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc, ODR-Inc cannot make any guarantees or claims about this doxie...we are just helping to network him and help them find his forever family. For information, please contact Marcia directly at 541-880-4946 or marciacrawford65@yahoo.com.

ODR, INC. ADOPTION CRITERIA (aka Our Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember these are rescues, many were surrendered because of these issues.
