Hey you! Smiley here! They call me Smiley because I just can't help but smile most of the time. I am about 3 years young. I was transferred to Satchel's from Sarasota County Animal Services when it was determined I was extremely sick. Thankfully, my human friends at Satchel's and the wonderful Beach Veterinary Clinic made sure I got the care I needed to get better. Unfortunately, my friends found out I have heartworms, which is why I would love a nice home to relax in with low activity while I go through treatment. I am selective of the canine company I keep, but I do seem to like most dogs in passing. I am currently not allowed to play as we are preparing me to start heartworm treatment and I need to stay as calm as possible.
**Smiley is a foster to adopt which means he would love a family to foster him until he is medically cleared. When he is, the foster family may decide to adopt or continue to foster until he gets adopted by a furrever family!

NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter! Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply.
