Jazz is a live wire. If he is awake, He is ON. He's smart, handsome, sweet and loves to be doing things with his people. Jazz is intense, an endless source of energy and ADHD all rolled into one.  He would love a human who takes him walking, hiking, bicycling or even mountain climbing. He is 30 pounds of  highly intelligent, quick and agile energy. He would make an exceptional agility, frisbee or scent dog. He has made progress in leaps and bounds, literally, since he came into foster with me and ACDRA. He improves in his lessons daily. He is learning what is appropriate behavior and what is not. He is leery of new people and needs time to warm up to them…treats are expected at introductions.

Jazz just came home from spending 18 days with The Dog Wizard at Sleep Away Camp.

He’s been learning to walk on a leash and is doing quite well… We've been on excursions to the Greenway to walk, where there are other walkers with their canine companions, joggers and bicycles passing by. Jazz is a gentleman on the trail and is very good in the truck. He knows sit, down, place, come and off.  There are four other dogs here as well. He gets along with most dogs and just wants to play, but he does bring A LOT of energy to the game. He loves to play ball and will bring it back for you to throw some more. He drops it at my feet, so we’re working on putting it in my hands. I am also working on teaching him to catch a Frisbee. He is 90% house & crate trained. I say 99 % because he hasn’t figured out how to show me that he needs to go out. When he is in his crate, he will settle and relax, although he would rather be by my side.  He usually sleeps through the night in his crate in the kitchen right outside my room.
Jazz loves with his teeth. The more he loves you, the more he wants to put them on you. If I give him something appropriate to chew, he is content. Jumping, nipping, mouthing when being petted is not unmanageable but he definitely needs to be with someone who doesn't label him a biter and be willing to continue professional training classes. The Dog Wizard comes with a lifetime guarantee to help you through any issues with Jazz's training.

Jazz needs an adopter who understands Cattle Dog energy and is willing to be his partner in continuing to socialize him and help him learn how the world works and how he fits in it. Because of his high energy, a home with no small children and a fenced yard would be best for him. He has not been cat tested, but I suspect he would give chase.

Jazz is neutered, micro-chipped and is Up To Date on vaccines and preventatives. He lives in Huntersville, North Carolina. Please be prepared to come meet him if you are interested in adopting this awesome guy.

About Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association

About Our Rescue Group...

We are an all volunteer group that rescues Australian Cattle Dogs. Our dogs reside in foster homes until they are adopted
Every year, thousands of Australian Cattle Dogs find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Although the reasons are diverse, the result is the same. Healthy, adoptable dogs face euthanasia in shelters.

The Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association rescues ACDs in shelters from Maine to Georgia and gives these dogs a fresh start with a loving family. Our foster home volunteers welcome the dogs into their homes where they live as members of the family. During the time in foster care, our volunteers determine what kind of forever home will be the right one for each dog.
