Meet our special Shane! Shane is a feline leukemia positive kitten, so he will need some special care. Feline leukemia or FeLV sounds like a daunting diagnosis but it is often a misunderstood disease! Shane is a hefty and sturdy and outwardly healthy boy with a long life ahead of him if proper precautions are taken - the only catch is his immune system is compromised. He deserves - and wants! - all the same love and attention as any other cat. He is very sweet and enjoys attention.
He needs to go to a home where he can be the only cat. This is not only to protect other cats but also to protect Shane! With a compromised immune system he cannot fight off normal illnesses that other cats can. For the same reason he will need to be an indoor only cat to protect him from germs he could catch outside, and to prevent other kitties from coming into contact with him. Shane is perfectly fine to be around dogs and he has a keen interest to play with the dogs in his current foster home. Dogs and humans cannot catch FeLV.
Please consider giving this very special kitty a forever home. If you are interested in learning more about Shane, please contact his foster home.
