Sweet, shy Odin came to Atlanta Humane with his mother who has since been adopted. Without her to comfort him, this gentle boy was overwhelmed in the shelter so is now in foster care with one of our wonderful volunteers. There, he has made great strides, literally, since his foster mom reports that he is a great running partner. He’s also discovered the joys of snuggling on the couch, playing with other dogs, and hanging out with the family cat. As an added bonus, he’s even housebroken (although accidents can happen).

This energetic boy needs a patient, yet active owner who can continue working with him to help build his confidence and understand that the world is a safe place. And although not essential, we think he’d do best in a home with another dog to keep him company.

Odin is an UNDERDOG which means that since he has been here longer than 30 days, his adoption fee is reduced. Come visit him at Howell Mill today and make this underdog feel like the WONDER dog that he is.SM

About Atlanta Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

Atlanta Humane Society (AHS) is a 501(c)3 tax exempt nonprofit (IRS Tax ID# 58-0685900) and the oldest private charitable organization in Atlanta, founded in 1873 following a visit to the city by Robert E. Lee. The animal charity was originally chartered to protect women, children, and animals and remained a child protection and animal welfare society for 79 years. AHS, now a widely recognized pet adoption center, clinic, and educational program provider, was originally located on Marietta Street and moved to its location at 981 Howell Mill Road in the 1930s. Atlanta Humane Society's Mansell Road Adoption Facility was opened in December of 2011 in Alpharetta.

It is our mission to prevent neglect, abuse, cruelty and exploitation of animals and to assure that their interests and well-being are fully, effectively and humanely protected by an aware and caring society.

Atlanta Humane Society places approximately 8,000 animals into forever homes each year. AHS is committed to finding homes for all adoptable pets. We do not euthanize adoptable animals, and there are no time limits for the animals once they are in our care. We only humanely euthanize those animals suffering from significant medical issues or that pose behavior concerns. We are proud to be a part of the solution to ending pet homelessness and overpopulation in the Southeast United States.
